WASP!

Program Overview

The Warren After School Program is available from 3-5:30pm every school day – cost: $8 per child per day. Early pickup (by 4pm) costs only $4. The cost for upper unit students (5th and 6th graders) who attend WASP after Study Hall is also only $4, as is the same for students participating in a sport. At 4:30, M-Th, all students who have homework are invited to come to the cafeteria to complete their homework! On half days, we offer an extended program beginning at 12:30pm which increases the daily cost to $12 per child.

We serve a snack everyday including fresh fruit, juices (not everyday), granola bars, and/or a variety of snack crackers (goldfish, cheezits, pretzels, etc.) On Movie Fridays we offer popcorn, and on Fridays during the ski program, we serve a warm snack such as grilled cheese sandwiches, macaroni and cheese, or pizza, and hot chocolate!

WASP relies solely on tuition and fundraisers throughout the school year to survive and thrive. If you have any questions, requests, or comments, please let us hear from you! You may post a comment here, find one of us after school, or email us at warrenafterschool@yahoo.com.

For the children,

The WASP Team

Remember when…

Here are a few pictures from the Spring 2011 Fishing Club adventures. Thank you to Blaire, the parents, the Robinsons (for use of their pond!), and the guys at the Roxbury Fish Hatchery, who helped make it all possible!

Thanks for supporting WASP, and we’ll see you after school!

Amazing!

During the winter months, once we are back inside, someone may offer the idea to play Capture the Flag! On this particular day, almost 20 kids, from 3 years old to 6th grade bound into a raucous but friendly round! As an outsider looking in, it is difficult to ascertain what is going on, but to these kids, it’s a seamless, flowing, active, and cooperative adventure in fun! Watching them is truly delightful.

One of her creative endeavors on this wintery afternoon is to lead children in a workout session. Thank you Mary Grace!

Irene can’t stop the Fishing Club!

Somewhere in the vicinity of the April break, the WASP Let’s Go Fishing Club will return in spite of Hurricane Irene. We may have to skip the Roxbury Fish Hatchery field trip as this facility was wiped out. Perhaps an opportunity to help re-build or clean up will present itself or maybe Jeremy, the Fish Biologist, will be a guest speaker and address this or other possibilities for the Roxbury site? Learning opportunities abound! 150 trout will be coming from the Salisbury Hatchery to stock the Robinson’s pond as scheduled. Until then, enjoy the snow, and lets go skiing!!

Regards from Blaire
